Chisholm CPR empowers you with life-saving skills. Learn CPR, understand heart health, and be ready when it matters most. Over 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside hospitals each year — your hands could save a life.
Knowledge is power — and in this case, it could be the power to save a life.
That's roughly 2.5 billion times in an average lifetime. Your heart is the hardest-working muscle in your body — treat it right!
For every minute without CPR, survival decreases by 7-10%. Immediate CPR can double or triple the chances of survival.
The Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" has 100 beats per minute — the perfect tempo for CPR chest compressions! Other songs at this tempo include "Crazy in Love" and "Dancing Queen."
The life you save with CPR is most likely to be someone you love — a spouse, parent, or child. That's why everyone should learn CPR.
You don't need mouth-to-mouth! Hands-only CPR (just chest compressions) has been shown to be equally effective for adult sudden cardiac arrest in the first few minutes.
Women are more likely to experience "silent" heart attacks with symptoms like nausea, back pain, and fatigue rather than classic chest pain. Knowing these signs saves lives.
For infants, use two fingers in the center of the chest. For children, use one hand. The compression depth and breath ratio also differ — that's why proper training matters!
Automated External Defibrillators talk you through every step. You can't accidentally shock someone who doesn't need it — the device analyzes the heart rhythm automatically.
In all 50 states, Good Samaritan laws protect people who give CPR in good faith. You cannot be sued for trying to save someone's life. Don't be afraid to act!
Understanding these critical signs can make all the difference in an emergency.
A heart attack is a circulation problem. Know the symptoms:
Call 911 immediately. Do NOT drive yourself.
Cardiac arrest is an electrical problem. It's sudden and deadly:
Start CPR IMMEDIATELY. Use an AED as soon as possible.
If someone collapses and is unresponsive, call 911 immediately or ask a bystander to call and find an AED.
Place hands in the center of the chest. Push at least 2 inches deep, at 100-120 compressions per minute. Allow full chest recoil.
As soon as an AED arrives, turn it on and follow the voice prompts. Continue CPR between AED analyses until help arrives.
